For each thorn, there is a rose bud...
              for each twilight--a dawn...
for each trial--the strength to carry on,
For each storm cloud-- a rainbow...
              for each shadow-- the sun...
for each parting-- sweet memories when sorrow is done.

What a beautiful time of year Dan...

I wish you were here to see it again.

I will always remember the beauty of autumn

when I think of you, instead of remembering this

time of year as when we lost you.....

                                                      In Our Hearts

          We thought of you today.
          But that is nothing new.
     We thought about you yesterday.
          And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
       We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories.
And your picture in a frame.
       Your memory is our keepsake.
         With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.

                                                      Time Will Ease The Hurt

The sadness of the present days
Is locked and set in time.
       And moving to the future
Is a slow and painful climb.

But all the feelings that are now
         So vivid and real
      Can't hold their fresh intensity
          As time begins to heal.

No wound so deep will ever go
          Entirely away
        Yet every hurt becomes
A little less from day to day.

       Nothing can erase the painful
         Imprints on your mind
       But there are softer memories
That time will let you find.

Though your heart won't let the sadness
             Simply slide away
           The echoes will diminish
         Even though the memories stay.

SMILE BECAUSE HE LIVED

You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that he left behind.

Your heart can be empty because you cant see him,
or you can be full of the love that you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn back,
or you can do what he would want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

STILL MISSING YOU

They say there is a reason,
They say that time will heal.
But neither time nor reason
Will change the way we feel.

For no one knows the heartache
that lies beneath our smiles,
No one knows how many times
we have broken down and cried.

We want to tell you something
so there won't be any doubt,
you're so wonderful to think of
but so hard to be without.
we cannot bring the old days back,
when we were all together.
The family chain is broken now,
but memories live forever.

DEATH IS NOT THE END

Death can never be the end
Death is the road
Life is the traveler
The soul is the guide
Our mind thinks of death
Our heart thinks of life
Our soul of immortality

                                                 LOVE LIVES ON

Those we love are never really lost to us--
we feel them in so many special ways--
through friends they always cared about
                            and dreams they left behind,
in beauty that they added to our days...
in words of wisdom we still carry with us
and memories that never will be gone...
                              Those we love
are never really lost to us--
for everywhere their special love lives on.

TO THOSE I LOVE

If I should ever leave you, whom I love, to go along the silent way, grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there. (Id come-I'd come, could I but find a way! But would not tears and grief be barriers?)  And when you hear a song or see a bird I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad...For I am loving you as I always have...
you were so good, to me!  There are so many things I wanted still to do...So many things to say to you...Remember that I did not fear...It was just leaving you that was so hard to face...We cannot see beyond... but this I know: I loved you so-twas heaven here with you!

Memory Can Tell Us What We Were

Memory can tell us only what we were,
        In company with those we loved;
It cannot help us find out what each of us,
        Alone, must now become.
       Yet, no person is really alone;
Those who live no more still echo
      Within our thoughts and words,
And what they did has become
        woven into what we are.

WHEN YOU FEEL LONELY
Author unknown

When a person you love passes away
Look to the night sky on a clear day.
The star that to you, appears to be bright,
Will be your loved one, looking upon you during the night.
The lights of heaven are what shows through
As your loved one watches all that you do.
When you feel lonely for the one that you love,
Look to the heavens in the night sky above.

THE PROMISE
By Diane Robertson

Of angels wings and heavenly things
There's very little known,
For those who have the answers
Are, forever, from us gone.

Life in the hereafter,
In faith, I must accept;
Thoughts that trouble not the people
With families still intact.

But, those of us who've traveled
Down the lonely path of grief,
Are forever seeking answers
To the riddle, which is life.

We trek through shadowed forests
Past the ugly shroud of death,
Toward a promise for the future
Of a kinder, better place.

So, we look to see the angel wings
And listen for the hymn
That God will send to guide us
When we leave to be with him.

THE SHIP OF LIFE
by John T. Baker

Along the shore I spy a ship
As she sets out to sea;
She spreads her sails and sniffs the breeze
And slips away from me.

I watch her fading image shrink,
As she moves on and on,
Until at last she's but a speck.
Then someone says, "She's gone."

Gone where? Gone only from our sight
And from our farewell cries;
That ship will somewhere reappear
To others eager eyes.

Beyond the dim horizon's rim
Resound the welcome drums,
And while we're crying, "There she goes!"
They're shouting, "Here she comes!"

We're built to cruise for but awhile
Upon this trackless sea
Until the day we sail away
Into infinity.

WINGS

OH, TO CATCH THE WINDS OF FLIGHT
AND SOAR WHERE EAGLES GO
TO LEAVE THE WOES OF TROUBLES SOULS
BEHIND ME FAR BELOW
I'D LISTEN TO THE SONG OF BIRDS
AND SAIL IN ENDLESS FLIGHT
THEN CHASE THE SUN THROUGH CLOUDY PATHS
AND PLAY WITH THE STARS AT NIGHT.

THE BOUNDLESS HEAVENS FOR MY HOME
THE BREEZE TO LIFT ME HIGH
TO RISE ABOVE MY MORTAL BONDS
AND NEVER HAVE TO DIE
KNOWING I HAD FOUND THE WAY
TO TRAILS WHERE ANGELS TROD
AND WHEN MY WINGS COULD FLY NO MORE
I'D TAKE THE HAND OF GOD.

At the rising sun and at its going down, we remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them.
At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, we remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer, we remember them.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of the autumn, we remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live, for they are now a part of us.  As we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength, we remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart, we remember them.
When we have decisions that are difficult to make, we remember them.
When we have joy we crave to share, we remember them.
When we have achievements that are based on theirs, we remember them.
For as long as we live, they too will live,
For they are now a part of us, as we remember them.

                                            Beautiful Memories

       Beautiful memories
       Are wonderful things,
       They never wear out,
       They never get lost,
And can never be given away.
To some you may be forgotten,
To others a part of the past.
But to us who loved you,
       Your memory will always last.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

The celebration of life,
shared in the beginning, and again, in the end.
Yet we forget to celebrate it, in every moment we live.
Time, days, years, go on, but are we alive?
Alive and do not know it, sleeping in the world
and dead to the life we are to live.
To celebrate all life,
the sparrow who sang in the morning,
and died in the night,
why do we not celebrate its life?
To know thyself is to know you are alive,
to give, to love, to seek truth, beauty, and suffer pain.
In life as it is meant to be, pain is forgotten,
and strength is all that's left to be gained
in the moment by moment celebration of life.

A gift for such a little while,
your loss just seems so wrong!
You should have not left before us,
It's with loved ones you belong!

                                                  We'll Go On, After You

   We'll go on, after you,
   Without you we'll go on,
   Though something beautiful inside
Us all has turned to stone.

    We'll go on, after you,
    Without you through the years
    Of pain and raw bewilderment
    And brutal, angry tears.

    We'll go on, after you
    Without you we will heal,
Though love may labor in the heart
    And joy the loss conceal.

    We'll go on, after you,
    Without you we will grow
    Together as a family
    That you will never know.

    We'll go on, after you,
    Without you life goes on,
    But neither hope nor happiness
    Undoes what you have done.

NOT, HOW DID HE DIE, BUT HOW DID HE LIVE?

Not how did he die, but how did he live?

Not what did he gain, but what did he give?

These are the units to measure the worth

of a man as a man, regardless of birth.

Not what was his church, nor what was his creed?

But had he befriended those really in need?

Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,

to bring back a smile, to banish a tear?

Not what did the sketch in the newspaper saw,

But how many were sorry when he passed away.
