Danny was born on the day after mom and dad's wedding aniversary and mom's birthday, he weighed 8# 10 oz, I remember dad coming into my and Steph's bedroom to tell us we had a new baby brother, I remember at that time mom and baby stayed in the hospital for 5-7 days, we as children were not permitted to enter the hospital and visit. My dad drove us up there and we stood on the hosp grounds while mom stood in a 2nd story window with Dan in her arms to wave to us. I was 8 yrs old then.

Dan was the baby to the rest of us.

I remember Dan as an infant, he was so funny and we all were old enough to help with him and look after him for years to come. He was always following Jeff around..haha.. they were 5 years apart and poor Danny just got left behind when we all started walking to the pool or where ever, then he found his lifelong Friends in Matt Hoyt and then a little later Shawn Cooper.

We lived in a terrific neighborhood where there were always kids around, in those times we children could actually grow up outside without worry of so many of todays fears that parents have.

I can picture Danny with his friends, playing ball, riding bikes, swimming. He was a happy and active child, I felt very protective of him and worried about him often, I will never forget my wedding video when during the receiving line up Dan was captured on video hiding tears, why? Happiness, sadness, this young boy(13) loved me, maybe was going to miss me as I started a new chapter in my life. I wish I would have known then how sensitive he continued to be as he became a man. I wish I could hug him.

Dan enrolled in Jeff Tech in Reynoldsville where he was in the metal fabrication shop, when he was in 10th grade. In his senior year he was accepted to work co-op at Niagra Cutter a local machine plant. When he graduated in 1994 he stayed on as a full time employee.

Dan became interested in Firefighting and joined the Reynoldsville Fire Dept.

His Favorite Football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers

Dan continued to live in Reynoldsville with our parents, he also continued his firefighting and job at Niagara Cutter. He liked hunting and fishing, he also helped our grandparents (Ken and Nola Reiter) with errands and yard work. He was always ready with a smile and a story and enjoyed his neices and nephews. He visited our brother Kenny in Missouri.

 A fond memory I have is during deer hunting season, the first morning. He was up and in the woods no doubt well before the crack of dawn(with our dad not far from him), Me and Bob made it to the woods about 7 am ish, after daylight. We snuck past him, waving, about 25 yrds past his stand I saw a buck on the horizon. I took aim and got him...lol... Dan was like "I've been here freezing for 2 hours and you sleep in and walk right up on a buck!"...poor guy!

As life continued and Dan remained one of the most well liked people in our small town, he met and married Marcy, they had 2 daughters, Alayna and Riley,  lived as a next door neighbor to our parents, he became involved in the RC Plane flying, continued to hunt and fish, basically appeared happy.

He became sick with bronchitis/pneumonia type illnesses. Asthma set in, he missed much work and later learned he had MRSA infection in his lungs. Difficult to treat, he continued to miss work, unbeknown to his family was becoming further behind in house payments, financial strain and illness and personal difficulties we were unaware of and to this day I dream I could have helped him, if only I would have known and seen the warning signs.

2 weeks before his death at Alayna and Rileys skating party, the last time I saw him, I asked him how he was, he answered vaguely, and I could see on his face he had other things, haunting pictures of his face flash before my eyes as I hurry away, always busy, Had I stopped and said, "Dan, tell me." would things have been any different? Could we have pulled together and saved him? I will never know, this could be the biggest mistake of my life.
